The paper under review addresses the problem of existence of separatrices of holomorphic foliations. In dimension two, the existence of separatrices is a well-known result, which is no longer valid in higher dimension, neither for codimension-1 foliations nor for 1-dimensional ones. The authors study the case of codimension-1 foliations in \(\mathbb{C}^3\). In this context, the existence of separatrices in the non-dicritical case was obtained in [\textit{F. Cano} and \textit{D. Cerveau}, Acta Math. 169, No. 1--2, 1--103 (1992; Zbl 0771.32018)]. The main result of the paper is the following: given two holomorphic vector fields in a neighborhood of \(0\in\mathbb{C}^3\) which commute and are linearly independent at generic points, the foliation spanned by them has a separatrix. The proof consists mainly in three steps. In the first one, they prove the following result (Theorem 1): consider a codimension-1 foliation in a neighborhood of \(0\in\mathbb{C}^3\), and assume that after reduction of singularities (in the sense of [\textit{F. Cano}, Ann. Math. (2) 160, No. 3, 907--1011 (2005; Zbl 1088.32019)]) the foliation induced on every irreducible compact dicritical component of the exceptional divisor possesses a non-constant meromorphic first integral; then, the foliation has a separatrix. In the second one, they prove that, except for some special situations, the foliation spanned by two commuting vector fields always satisfies the hypothesis of Theorem 1. Finally they analyze those special situations, where they are able to establish directly the existence of the separatrix.
