A method for constructing exact solutions of nonlinear partial differential equations is considered. Unlike to the well-known Lie method this method doesn't use a Lie symmetry and is based on an consideration of a given nonlinear PDE together with an additional generating condition in form of a high-order ODE. This method was developed by the author in some previous works for obtaining solutions of some nonlinear evolution equations [see Rep. Math. Phys. 38, No. 3, 301-312 (1996; Zbl 0900.35067)]. The following nonlinear equation \[ U_t=UU_{xx}+rU_x^2+\lambda_1UU_x+s_2U^2+s_1U+s_0, \tag{*} \] where all coefficients are arbitrary constants is considered. The method of additional generating conditions in the form \[ \alpha_1(t,x)\frac{dU}{dx}+\dotsb+\frac{d^mU}{dx^m}=0 \] is applied to (*), and new multiparameter families of exact solutions to (*) are constructed. An analysis of the new solutions is given, and a connection of the proposed method with other recently used approaches is discussed.
