A new model to describe biological invasion influenced by a line with fast diffusion has been introduced by Berestycki, Roquejoffre and Rossi in 2012. The purpose of this article is to present a related model where the line of fast diffusion has a nontrivial range of influence. The author shows the existence of a spreading velocity, which is faster than the standard Fisher-KPP speed as soon as a (explicit) threshold for the diffusion on the line is reached. Furthermore, the paper includes several results on the influence of the nonlocal exchange terms. It turns out that the exchanges from the road to the field, and from the field to the road, have rather different and even antagonistic effects, depending on some parameters.
