In [St. Petersbg. Math. J. 4, 1143-1151 (1993) and Algebra Anal. 4, 103-113 (1992; Zbl 0848.17036)] the author studied a class of infinite-dimensional \(Z\)-graded Lie algebras generated by dynamical systems (these algebras being a special case, a more general construction due to \textit{M. V. Savel'ev} and the author [Commun. Math. Phys. 126, 367-378 (1989; Zbl 0691.17012)]). In this paper new graded algebras are constructed starting from ergodic transformations with an invariant measure. More specifically, if \(X\) is a compact space and \(T\) a homeomorphism, \(\mu\) an invariant ergodic probability measure on \(X\), then the crossed product algebra \(C(X)\rtimes{\mathbb{Z}}\) is considered. This space, endowed with the bracket \[ [\phi u^n,\psi u^m]= (\phi\psi\circ T^n-\psi\phi\circ T^m)u^{n+m} +(n\delta_{n+m}\int\phi\psi\circ T^ndu)1 \] gives rise to a Lie algebra. It follows that this algebra is a one-dimensional extension of the kernel of the trace on the underlying space \(C(X)\rtimes{\mathbb{Z}}\) defined by the probability measure. A construction of dynamical systems with a discrete spectrum is also presented, specially for examples coming from arithmetics. For this case its relation to type \(A_{p^{n}}^{1}\) affine Kac-Moody algebras via inductive limits is shown.
