    In an attempt to understand elliptic homology at the prime 2, \textit{S. Ochanine} [Math. Z. 206, No. 2, 277-291 (1991; Zbl 0714.57013)] introduced a genus \(\beta_ q : \text{MSpin}_ * \to B\), where \(B\) is a ring which is isomorphic to \(\mathbb{Z}[{1\over 2}] [\delta, \varepsilon]\) upon inverting 2. He asked whether \[ \text{MSpin}_ * (X) \otimes_{\text{MSpin}_ *} B[\varepsilon^{-1}]_ * \] is a homology theory. However, \textit{M. Kreck} and \textit{St. Stolz} [\(\mathbb{H} \mathbb{P}^ 2\)- bundles and elliptic homology, Acta Math. 171, No. 2, 231-261 (1993)] have recently shown that this is false. They construct a geometric homology theory whose coefficient ring is \(B[\varepsilon^{-1}]\). Let \(v\) be an element of \(B\) corresponding to \(64(\delta^ 2 - \varepsilon)\). We show, using the work of Kreck and Stolz and previous work of \textit{M. J. Hopkins} and the author [Math. Z. 210, No. 2, 181-196 (1992; Zbl 0770.55008)], that \[ \text{MSpin}_ *(X) \otimes_{\text{MSpin}_ *} B[v^{-1}]_ * \] is a homology theory, in fact one of the theories introduced by Kreck and Stolz.
