In the paper under review, the author obtains approximation results for integral currents in metric spaces enjoying \textit{local property} \(L\). More precisely, a metric space is said to enjoy \textit{property \(L\)} if for every metric space \(Y\) and every compact subset \(K\) of \(Y\), every \(1\)-Lipschitz map \(g:K\to X\) extends to a \(L=L(g)\)-Lipschitz map on the open \(\epsilon\)-neighborhood of \(K\). It is said to enjoy \textit{local property} \(L\) if every point in \(X\) has a neighborhood enjoying property \(L\). Situating itself in the framework for metric currents provided by \textit{U. Lang} [J. Geom. Anal. 21, No. 3, 683--742 (2011; Zbl 1222.49055)] of the paper under review, the author obtains two approximation results for \(n\)-dimensional integral currents in a locally compact metric space enjoying local property \(L\): \begin{itemize} \item approximation in normal mass \(\mathbf{N}\) (Theorem 1.3): given an integral current with compact support \(T\in\mathbf{I}_{n,c}(X)\) and \(\epsilon>0\), there exists a Lipschitz chain \(P\in\mathbf{L}_{n,c}(X)\) whose support is contained in an \(\epsilon\)-neighborhood of that of \(T\) and satisfying \(\mathbf{N}(T-P)<\epsilon\); \item approximation in mass \(\mathbf{M}\): given an integral current \(T\in\mathcal{I}_{n}(X)\), \(\epsilon>0\) and an open set \(U\) containing the support of \(T\), there exists a Lipschitz chain \(P\in\mathbf{L}_{n,c}(X)\) whose support is contained in \(U\) and satisfying \(\mathbf{M}(T-P)<\epsilon\). \end{itemize} The latter \(\mathbf{M}\)-approximation result can also be obtained when \(X\) is locally Lipschitz \((n-1)\)-connected.
