The paper presents a compressible Navier-Stokes solver based on the inviscid-viscous splitting with implicit treatment of the viscous operator, the main emphasize being placed on the solution procedure for the equations with viscous terms. It is shown that scalar tridiagonal inversions can be used when inverting the implicit operator. As testing examples, a transonic flow in a double-throated nozzle and an unsteady flow in a rectangular cavity are described.
