The main result of the paper says that if a regular cover M of a compact manifold admits a nonconstant bounded harmonic function then the linear space of such functions is infinite dimensional. As a corollary: any nonamenable cover of a compact manifold possesses an infinite dimensional space of bounded harmonic functions.
