The authors analyze a quasistatic nonlinear model in thermoviscoelasticity. The model is derived at a finite-strain setting in the Kelvin-Voigt rheology. The elastic and viscous stress tensors fulfill the principle of frame indifference under rotations. They construct weak solutions by means of a staggered in-time discretization. Furthermore, they focus on the case of deformations near the identity and small temperatures. A rigorous linearized thermoviscoelastic model is derived.
