A numerical method for determining an unknown curve in a Cauchy problem for the Laplace equation in a domain from the homogeneous Dirichlet condition on the curve is proposed. Based on the idea of the radial basic functions for Hermite-Birkhoff data interpolation and the shift invariability property of harmonic function space, the authors approximate the solution to the Cauchy problem by linear combinations of harmonic functions and get some error estimates for the case when the exact Cauchy data are given. Some numerical results are presented.
