A Hermitian manifold \((M,J_0,g_0)\) with fundamental 2-form \(\omega_0:=g_0\circ J_0\), is said to be Vaisman if there exists a non-zero 1-form \(\theta\) such that it is parallel with respect to the Levi-Civita connection and such that \(d\omega_0=\theta\wedge\omega_0\). Vaisman manifolds are characterized by the existence of a canonical foliation \(\mathcal{F}\), consisting of 2-dimensional leaves, and by the subsequent splitting of the metric \(g_0\) into \(g^\mathcal{F}_0\oplus g^T_0\), where \(g^\mathcal{F}_0\) is the leafwise metric and where the transverse metric \(g^T_0\) turns out to be Kähler. Let \(\rho^T_0\) and \(\omega^T_0\) be respectively the Ricci and the fundamental form of \(g^T_0\). The authors address the problem of finding Vaisman manifolds with transverse Kähler-Einstein structure in the special case when the manifold is closed and the basic Chern class \(c^1_b(M):=[\rho^T_0]\) satisfies the condition \[ c^1_b(M)=-[\omega^T_0]. \] For this end, fixing the Lee form \(\theta\), the authors consider a deformation \(g(t)\) of the metric \(g_0\), such that the transverse part \(\omega^T(t)\) of the fundamental forms related to the metrics \(g(t)\) satisfies the transverse Kähler-Ricci equation: \[ \begin{cases} \frac{\partial}{\partial t}\omega^T(t)=-\rho^T(t)&\\ \omega^T(0)=\omega_0^T. \end{cases} \] After providing a direct proof for the short-time existence of the solution for this flow by only using classical results from parabolic PDEs theory, they obtain a transverse Kähler-Einstein structure as the long-time limit. In the last part of the paper, properties of the Vaisman manifolds with transverse Kähler-Einstein structure and relations between Einstein-Weyl and quasi-Einstein Vaisman metrics are investigated.
