Let \(f_1,\ldots,f_k\) and \(g_1,\ldots,g_k\) be non-CM new forms of square-free levels. Let \(\lambda_{\mathrm{sym}^j f_i}(n)\) be the coefficients of the Dirichlet expansion of \(L(\mathrm{sym}^j f_i,s)\) and \(\nu_1,\ldots,\nu_k\) be positive integers such that \(\lambda_{\mathrm{sym}^j f_i}(\nu_i)\ne 0\). The authors prove that there exist infinitely many positive integers \(n\) such that \[ 0<|\lambda_{\mathrm{sym}^j f_i}(n+\nu_1)|<\cdots<|\lambda_{\mathrm{sym}^j f_i}(n+\nu_k)|. \] A similar theorem holds for the coefficients of the Dirichlet expansion of the Rankin-Selberg \(L\)-functions \(L(\mathrm{sym}^{j_1} f_i\times\mathrm{sym}^{j_2} g_i,s)\). The method of proof uses sieves and is similar to the one used by \textit{Y. F. Bilu} et al. who proved a similar result for the absolute values of the Ramanujan \(\tau\)-function [Compos. Math. 154, No. 11, 2441--2461 (2018; Zbl 1444.11071)] and is in fact easier thanks to the recent proofs of the Sato-Tato conjectures concerning the angular distribution of the coefficients of the new forms at primes in the generality needed by these authors by \textit{T. Barnet-Lamb} et al. [Publ. Res. Inst. Math. Sci. 47, No. 1, 29--98 (2011; Zbl 1264.11044)] and \textit{J. Thorner} [Res. Math. Sci. 8, No. 1, Paper No. 4, 21 p. (2021; Zbl 1465.11140)], results which were not available at the time of publication of [\textit{Y. F. Bilu} et al., Compos. Math. 154, No. 11, 2441--2461 (2018; Zbl 1444.11071)].
