    Let \(\{ a_n\}_{n=1}^\infty\) and \(\{ b_n\}_{n=1}^\infty\) be sequences of non-zero rational integers and let \[ \alpha =\frac{a_1}{b_1+\frac{a_2}{b_2+\dots}}=\lim_{n\to\infty}\frac{A_n}{B_n} \] be well defined and a convergent generalised continued fraction with formal general partials \(A_n/B_n\). Set \(\alpha_n=\prod_{i=1}^n a_j\) and \(\beta_n=\prod_{i=1}^n b_j\). Denote \(\gamma_n\) the greatest common divisor of \(A_n\) and \(B_n\). Assume that \(\sum_{n=1}^\infty \mid \frac{a_{n+1}}{b_nb_{n+1}}\mid <\infty\) and \(\lim_{n\to\infty}\frac{\alpha_n}{\beta_n}=0\). Then \(\alpha\) is an irrational number and its irrational measure exponent \(\mu(\alpha)\) satisfies \[ 2+\limsup_{n\to\infty}\frac{\log\mid\frac{b_{n+1}}{\alpha_n}\mid} {\log\mid\beta_n\mid}\leq \mu(\alpha)\leq 2+\max\left(\limsup_{n\to\infty}\frac{\log\mid\frac{b_{n+1}\gamma_n^2}{\alpha_n}\mid} {\log\mid\frac{\beta_n}{\alpha_n}\mid}, \limsup_{n\to\infty}\frac{\log\mid\alpha_n\mid} {\log\mid\frac{\beta_n}{\alpha_n}\mid}\right). \] As a consequence we obtain the irrationality of Cahen's constant.
