The authors consider and study a frontal curve on an embedded surface and two types of developable surfaces along the frontal curve: the generalized osculating developable surface, and the generalized normal developable surface. They introduce two invariants which are related to characterizations as developable surfaces and singularities of the osculating developable surface. Characterizations of singularities of the osculating developable surface and of the normal developable surfaces a long the frontal curve on the surface by using those invariants are given (Theorem 3.3 and Theorem 4.3). In Section 5 some interesting examples of such developable surfaces along frontal curves on embedded surfaces are presented.
