The author studies continuous linear maps between differential manifolds from a microlocal point of view using methods of the microlocal theory of sheaves [\textit{M. Kashiwara} and \textit{P. Schapira}, Sheaves on manifolds. With a short history ``Les débuts de la théorie des faisceaux'' by Christian Houzel. Berlin etc.: Springer-Verlag (1990; Zbl 0709.18001)]. \par The first main result is a characterization of Lipschitz continuity of a map $f$ in terms of its Whitney cone $C_f$ (defined to be the Whitney cone of its graph) and its conormal $\Lambda_f$ (defined to be the microsupport of the constant sheaf on its graph). It is shown that $f$ is Lipschitz if and only if its Whitney cone $C_f$ contains no nonzero vertical vectors, i.e., $C_f \cap (0_M \times TN) \subseteq 0_{M\times N}$, or if and only if its conormal contains no nonzero horizontal covectors, i.e., $\Lambda_f \cap (T^*M \times 0^*_N) \subseteq 0^*_{M\times N}$. \par The second main result is a characterization of strict differentiability of $f$ in terms of its Whitney cone and of its conormal. \par In addition, the article gives applications to the theory of causal manifolds and extends some of the obtained results to topological submanifolds. \par The presentation of the results is very clear and detailed and includes a pleasant exposition of the necessary background material.
