Real-boards of ideals in \(C(X)\) and their applications to characterize some spaces (Q6110055)

In this article the author introduces two subrings \(C^{I}_{K}(X)\) and \(C^{I}_{\infty}(X)\) for an ideal \(I\) of \(C(X)\) which are generalizations of \(C_{K}(X)\) and \(C_{\infty}(X)\), respectively, and gives a characterization of \(I\)-pseudocompact spaces (which are generalizations of psedocompact spaces) using them. The author also characterizes nearly pseudocompact spaces using the idea of real-boards of ideals of \(C(X)\). A concept of strongly real maximal ideal of \(C(X)\) is also introduced and a characterization of nearly realcompact spaces is given using strongly real maximal ideals of \(C(X)\).
