    It is shown that if any two subsets of \(\omega^\omega\) which are \(\Pi^1_2\) are comparable in the sense of Wadge, then every real has a dagger. It is also shown (using some arguments of John Steel) that the same hypothesis implies \(\Pi^1_2\)-determinacy. The argument uses Dodd-Jensen core model theory and Mitchell-Steel iteration trees.
