The paper is devoted to the new 2.1.0 version of R released on 18.04.2005. R is a programming language (a dialect of S-Plus) and environment for statistical computing and graphics. Main features of this and previous versions are described, including the support for internationalisation and localization with multi-bite encoding (especially for Asian languages) support for mathematical (TeX style) annotations for plots, refinements of graphical engine and Windows GUI.
