The purpose of the present paper is to introduce to the UNIX-based computer program \texttt{micrOMEGAs\(_2.4\)}. This program is devoted to the computation of indirect signals from dark matter (DM) annihilation with weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs). Independently from this computer program, the paper presents the mathematical background for the following problems: Section 2 presents formulas for fluxes from DM annihilation, especially for processes including positrons and antiprotons, section 3 gives the general framework for the galactic propagation of charged particles, both as integral and as partial differential equations, section 4 presents the annihilation spectra and the distribution of DM in the Galaxy, and section 5 gives examples and results of the computer program.
