Notions like semi-open sets, preopen sets, \(\alpha\)-open sets, \(\beta\)-open sets, and \(b\)-open sets play an important role in the study of generalizations of continuity in topological spaces. In previous papers the authors introduced the notions of \(m\)-continuous functions (\textit{V. Popa} and \textit{T. Noiri} [Mem.\ Fac.\ Sci., Kochi Univ., Ser.\ A 22, 9--18 (2001; Zbl 0972.54011)]), weakly \(m\)-continuous functions (\textit{V. Popa} and \textit{T. Noiri} [Mathematica 45(68), No. ~1, 53--67 (2003; Zbl 1084.54510)]), slightly \(m\)-continuous functions (\textit{V. Popa} and \textit{T. Noiri} [Rad.\ Mat.\ 10, No. ~2, 219--232 (2001; Zbl 1064.54501)]), and contra \(m\)-continuous functions (\textit{T. Noiri} and \textit{V. Popa} [Ann.\ Univ.\ Sci.\ Budap.\ Rolando Eötvös, Sect.\ Math. 45, 115--137 (2002; Zbl 1027.54018)]). In this paper they present the notion of weakly contra-\(m\)-continuous functions as functions from a set satisfying some minimal conditions into a topological space and investigate their properties. They also present new varieties of contra-continuity and investigate the relationships between weak contra-\(m\)-continuity and other related generalized forms of continuity. Previously they created a unified theory of weakly continuous functions and a unified theory of slightly continuous functions. In this paper, weak contra-\(m\)-continuity is described as a unified form of several variants of weak contra-continuity due to Baker.
