The present paper is an extension of the author's recently obtained results [Inverse Probl. 15, No. 1, 309-327 (1999; Zbl 0969.65049)] concerning the regularization of nonlinear ill-posed problem by an inexact Newton type iterations called REGINN. Now, the author formulates weaker source conditions for the exact solution under which the method is still well defined. It is proved that there is a number of iterations depending on data error \(\delta\) such that regularized solution obtained on this iteration step tends to the exact solution when \(\delta\rightarrow 0\). Moreover, convergence rates are established. Some numerical illustrations are given.
