The aim of this note is to develop a general theory for graded decomposition matrices, using the concept of specialization. This work is motivated by \textit{M. Khovanov} and \textit{A. D. Lauda} [Represent. Theory 13, 309--347 (2009; Zbl 1188.81117)], and \textit{J. Brundan} and \textit{A. Kleshchev} [Invent. Math. 178, No. 3, 451--484 (2009; Zbl 1201.20004)], but can be also interesting as a subject in its own right, providing a graded analogue of the usual notion of decomposition matrices associated with specialization maps. In particular, the authors present a factorization result which is a graded version of Proposition 2.6 in [\textit{M. Geck}, in: Séminaire Bourbaki. Volume 1997/98. Exposés 835--849. Paris: Société Ma\-thé\-ma\-tique de France. 33--55, Exp. No. 836 (1998; Zbl 0931.20006)]. Combined with the results obtained in [\textit{S. Ariki} et al., Proc. Edinb. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 55, No. 1, 23--51 (2012; Zbl 1264.17009)], the results of this note indicate the existence of several graded representation theories for Hecke algebras of type \(G(l, 1, n)\).
