Let \(f\) be a \(2\pi\)-periodic continuous function and let \(x_j = \frac{j\pi}{n}\), \(j=0,\ldots,2n-1\). The authors show that the \((n-1)\)-th Fejér sum \(\sigma_{n-1}(f)\) of \(f\) can be approximated with high accuracy by the average of the Fejér interpolants \(M_{n-1}(f,0)\) and \(M_{n-1}(f,1)\), where \(M_{n-1}(f,0)\) interpolates \(f\) at the nodes \(x_{2j}\), \(j=0,\ldots,n-1\) and where \(M_{n-1}(f,1)\) interpolates \(f\) at the nodes \(x_{2j+1}\), \(j=0,\ldots,n-1\). Further cubic spline approximations of \(M_{n-1}(f,0)\), \(M_{n-1}(f,1)\), and \(f\) are presented too.
