The article deals with the following modification of the Banach-Caccioppoli fixed point theorem for operators in a partially ordered Banach space \(X\) with a normal and reproducing cone \(P\): if \(T:\;X \to X\) is an increasing mapping satisfying the inequality \[ Tx - Ty \leq \psi(x - y), \quad x \geq y, \] where \(\psi\) is nondecreasing on \(P\), \(\|\psi(x)\| \to 0\) when \(\|x\| \to 0\), \((I - \psi)P \supset P\), \(\sum_{n=1}^\infty \|\psi^n(x)\| < +\infty\) for \(x \in P\), then \(T\) has a unique fixed point \(\bar{x}\) and, moreover, \(T^nx \to \bar{x}\) for all \(x \in X\). As an application, the following periodic boundary problem \[ u'(t) = f(t,u(t)), \quad u(0) = u(T) = 0, \] is considered. It is well known that the last problem is overdetermined (two conditions for differential equation of the first order), a fact which invalidates some of the authors' respective arguments.
