The paper features a rather general construction of harmonic morphisms \(G\to\mathbb R^m\) of Lie groups \(G\) with a certain product structure. The most interesting case for the authors is \(m=2\), when the harmonic morphisms can be interpreted as complex-valued. Starting from the rather general existence theorem, many examples are given. The Lie groups \(G\) that can be considered include a class of homogeneous Hadamard manifolds and, in particular, the Carnot spaces. Left-invariant foliations on Lie-Groups can also be used to produce harmonic morphisms.
