Shape preserving and twice differentiable interpolants are sought for provided univariate data; in the main results of this paper in the fourth section, the authors show that they can be computed by a subdivision scheme which is nonuniform and nonstationary. The shape parameters of the scheme which generates a piecewise polynomial (spline) of degree five are chosen explicitly and automatically. Several numerical examples are provided for this.
