The authors study finite positive Borel measures \(\sigma\) with an infinite compact support on the complex plane, and the \(L^p(\sigma, \mathbb{T})\) extremal polynomials associated to \(\sigma\) as the monic polynomials \(T_{n,p}(z,\sigma)=z^n+\ldots\) that minimize the norm \[ \|T_{n,p}\|_{L^p(\sigma, \mathbb{T})}:=\min_{Q\in P_{n-1}}\|z^n+Q\|_{L^p(\sigma, \mathbb{T})}=m_{n,p}(\sigma), \] \(0<p<\infty\), on the unit circle \(\mathbb{T}\), \(P_{k}\) is the set of polynomials of degree at most \(k\). For \(p=2\) such extremal polynomials are exactly the orthogonal polynomials with respect to \(\sigma\). The main result concerns the asymptotics of the values \(m_{n,p}(\sigma)\) as \(n\to\infty\), and the asymptotic behavior of extremal polynomials \(z^{-n}T_{n,p}\) in \(L^p(\sigma, \mathbb{T})\) and uniformly on compact sets of the exterior of the unit disk, in the case when \(\sigma=\rho(t)m(dt)+\nu\), \(\rho\) is a function on \(\mathbb{T}\) from the Szegő class, \[ \nu=\sum_k \nu_k\delta(z_k), \qquad \sum_k \nu_k<\infty, \] \(\{z_k\}\) is a Blaschke sequence in \(\{|z|>1\}\).
