The present paper is concerned with the scalar reaction diffusion equation of the form \[ u_t=u_{xx}+f(x,u,u_x), \] on a circle \(x\in S^1\). The authors show that for a hyperbolic periodic orbit there are no homoclinic connections, stable and unstable manifolds of hyperbolic periodic orbits of this equation always intersect transversally. The approach is to use Matano's zero number theory.
