The authors study the asymptotic behaviour of the entries of the inverse \((T_{N}(f_{a}))^{-1}_{k+1,l+1}\) of the Toeplitz matrix \(T_{N}(f_{a})\) when \(N\to \infty\) for \(a>-1/2\) and \(f_{a}=| 1-\chi |^{2a}f_{1}\), where \(f_{1}\) is a regular function that satisfies some natural hypothesis and \(\chi\) stands for \(e^{i\theta}\). Previous results about the asymptotic behaviour were given by H.\,Kesten (1961) for \(a\in (1/2,1)\) and P.\,M.\thinspace Bleher (1981) for \(a>0\) and \({3\over 4}<{k\over N}<1\), \(0<{l\over N}<{1\over 4}\). P.\,Rambour and A.\,Seghier's papers in 2003 and 2004 deal with the above Toeplitz matrix when \(a\) is a positive integer \(p\). Also, for \(p\) a positive integer, H.\,Widom and A.\,Böttcher (2004) wrote an asymptotic relation when \(N\to\infty\) of the minimal eigenvalue of the above matrix. In this paper, the authors also obtain an asymptotic expansion of the entries of the inverse for \(a=1/2\), and thus, they give a positive answer to a question by H.\,Kesten (1961).
