Linear approximation in \(l_ n^ \infty\) (Q1325764)

The paper investigates the approximation behavior of a linear subspace \(U\) in \(\ell_ n^ \infty\), i.e., in \(\mathbb{R}^ n\) equipped with the maximum norm using the classification of the index set \(\{1,\dots, n\}\) by means of the Plücker-Graßmann coordinates: the behavior of the metric projection \(P_ U\) on \(\ell_ n^ \infty\), as well as the behavior of the best approximations \(P_ U(x)\) for a single elements \(x\in \mathbb{R}^ n\).
