The paper continues the study of [the first and the third authors, SIAM J. Numer. Anal. 55, No. 3, 1201--1217 (2017; Zbl 1375.26018)], where the Mittag-Leffler reproducing kernel Hilbert space of a real variable was introduced as a mean to estimate the Caputo fractional derivative of a function of a real variable. Here this reproducing kernel Hilbert space is extended to functions of a complex variable and it is shown that the resulting Mittag-Leffler reproducing kernel Hilbert space of entire functions is a natural one-parameter generalization of the Bargmann-Fock space. Actually two reproducing kernel functions based on the Mittag-Leffler function that are related by composition are investigated, and the Mittag-Leffler reproducing kernel Hilbert space of slitted plane is associated with a natural generalization of the Bargmann-Fock space where the Caputo fractional derivative becomes a densly defined operator. The paper has five main sections. After introducing into the topic, in the second section necessary concepts related to the Caputo fractional derivative are presented. The third section is devoted to the Mittag-Leffler reproducing kernel Hilbert space of entire functions of order \(q>0\) denoted by \(\mathrm{ML}^2(\mathbb C,q)\), giving a complexification of the real-valued Mittag-Leffler space. The fourth section analyzes the growth properties and the zero sets and establishes theorems concerning the order and type of the functions in \(\mathrm{ML}^2(\mathbb C,q)\) that are analogous to the theorems on the Bargmann-Fock space. In the fifth section, the Mittag-Leffler space of the slitted plane (having analytic functions everywhere except for the negative real line) is defined and discussed, obtaining a generalization of the classical adjoint relationship between multiplication by \(z\) and differentiation with respect to \(z\) from the Bargmann-Fock space. In particular it is proved that, in the Mittag-Leffler space of the slitted plane, the multiplication by \(z^q\) and the Caputo fractional differentiation are closed densly defined adjoints of each other. The paper ends with a concluding section and an appendix where the Caputo derivative of a complex argument is studied.
