The classical Chern-Osserman theorem, for a completely, properly, minimally immersed surface \(S\) in Euclidean space, relates the Euler characteristic of \(S\), the total curvature, and the supremum of the volume growth of extrinsic balls. An inequality of this type has been derived by \textit{C. Qing} and \textit{C. Yi} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 128, No. 8, 2445--2450 (2000; Zbl 0955.53036)] for hyperbolic spaces (of constant curvature). In the present paper the authors prove a Chern-Osserman type inequality for Cartan-Hadamard manifolds which are asymptotically hyperbolic.
