The semi-local convergence of the inexact Newton-HSS method (INHSS) introduced by \textit{A. Amiri} et al. [J. Comput. Appl. Math. 354, 242--258 (2019; Zbl 1416.65140)], for solving large systems of nonlinear equations is reconsidered. The correct convergence criterion is presented and an even weaker convergence criterion using recurrent functions. Results of numerical examples are provided to show that the new convergence criteria are satisfied.
