\(T_1\) topological spaces \(Y\) such that each quotient mapping onto \(Y\) has some additional properties are characterized. The author defines a property, called the NCA\((\omega)\) property, and proves that a \(T_1\) space \(Y\) is submaximal and extremally disconnected (submaximal and has property NCA\((\omega)\)) if and only if each quotient mapping onto \(Y\) is almost-open (bi-quotient). The paper contains also results concerning characterizations of \(T_1\) topological spaces such that each countable-covering mapping onto them is almost-open or bi-quotient.
