The three primes theorem, due to Vinogradov says that, for every sufficiently large odd integer \(N\), the equation \(N = p_1 + p_2 + p_3\) is solvable for prime variables \(p_1, p_2, p_3\). More precisely, the asymptotic formula \[\sum_{N=p_1+p_2+p_3} 1 =\frac1{2} \mathfrak{S}(N) \frac{N^2}{\log^3 N}+ O\left(\frac{N^2}{\log^4 N}\right)\] holds true, where \(\mathfrak{S}(N)\) is the singular series \[\mathfrak{S}(N) = \prod_{p\mid N} \left(1 -\frac1{(p - 1)^2}\right) \prod_{p\nmid N} \left(1 + \frac1{(p - 1)^3}\right).\] For a fixed real number \(1/2 < \gamma < 1\) the set \(P_{\gamma} = \{ [n^{1/\gamma}]: n \in {\mathbb{N}}\}\) is called the Piatetski-Shapiro set of type \(\gamma\). Note that \textit{I. I. Piatetski-Shapiro} [Mat. Sb., Nov. Ser. 33(75), 559--566 (1953; Zbl 0053.02702)] proved that the set \(P_{\gamma}\) contains infinitely many prime numbers if \(11/12 < \gamma < 1\).\par The authors prove that the three primes theorem still holds if each of the three primes is in the intersection of two Piatetski-Shapiro sets of certain types. More exactly, they prove a related asymptotic formula which is similar to the one given above.
