Symplectic realizations of Poisson manifolds appear in the work of A. Weinstein concerning quantization, where they appear in the form of a symplectic groupoid over the given Poisson manifold. The explicit construction of groupoids as such is related to the integrability of a Poisson manifolds and goes back to the work of Cattaneo and Felder. In the non-integrable cases, a local version of a groupoid as such is always available. In the article under review, the authors focus on holomorphic Poisson structures and construct a suitable groupoid. To this end, they use the observation that holomorphic Poisson manifolds are equivalent to a special class of Poisson-Nijenhuis manifolds, namely the ones whose Nijenhuis tensor is almost complex. Thus, their construction provides a symplectic-Nijenhuis in the sense of the second author and M. Stienon. Earlier studies of Poisson-Nijenhuis manifolds by F. Petalidou play an important role in the construction.
