Applying Thurston's theory to the space of labeled Euclidean triangles (a labeling inducing an orientation on their boundary), the author proves that the Lipschitz constant of the unique affine map between two Euclidean triangles induces a metric on the set of isometry classes of the triangles with area \(\frac{1}{2}\). Endowed with twice its natural metric, that space of triangles is isometric to the hyperbolic plane.
