In this paper, by means of asymptotic center techniques, the authors establish some new results on the structure of the fixed point set of some asymptotically regular mappings in a uniformly convex Banach space with Opial's property. The main results of this paper complement some recent ones due to \textit{T. Domínguez, M. A. Japón} and \textit{G. López} [``Metric fixed point results concerning measures of noncompactness mappings'', Handbook of metric fixed point theory. Dordrecht: Kluwer Academic Publishers. 239--268 (2001; Zbl 1022.47039)].
