This paper is devoted to wave propagating in a randomly layered medium with long-range correlations. The work is closely related to the authors' previous work [\textit{R. Marty} and \textit{K. Solna}, SIAM J. Appl. Math. 69, No.~4, 1065--1083 (2009; Zbl 1306.76041)], where an example of such a medium was studied that led to an asymptotic travel time described in terms of a fractional Brownian motion. In the present paper the authors prove that under more general assumptions on the long-range correlation, the transmitted pulse keeps its initial shape, but the time-shift can be different, depending on the form of the random fluctuations. In the case when the medium has a decay rate of correlations that varies along the propagating direction, the asymptotic time-shift can be described in terms of a multifractional random process.
