Let \((M,g)\) be a compact Lorentzian manifold with \(\dim (M)\geq 2\) that admits a Killing vector field that is time-like somewhere. The authors prove that there is one time-like non self-intersecting periodic geodesic in \((M,g)\), using a compactness argument for subgroups of the isometry group. Moreover, if the Killing vector field is nowhere vanishing, then there are at least two distinct periodic geodesics. Also, compact stationary manifolds have at least two periodic time-like geodesics. Finally, they prove that a compact manifold admits a Lorentzian.
