The authors consider the Cauchy-Dirichlet problem for the porous medium equation in the supercritical singular range of the exponent \(m\) (i.e. \(\frac{(N-2)_+}{N+2}<m<1\)) in the case of a bounded smooth domain. They study the asymptotic behaviour of the solution until the extinction time. First they prove the convergence in \(L^\infty\) norm of the solution to the rescaled solution obtained through the separation of the variables. By using entropy methods and weighted Poincaré inequalities they are able to estimate the rate of convergence of the solution for \(m\) close to 1. To get such an interesting result, they need to analyze the structural properties of the stationary elliptic solution.
