Existence of a ground state solution for a nonlinear scalar field equation with critical growth (Q663329)

The authors prove the existence of a ground state solution for a nonlinear elliptic equation in the whole space with critical growth of the nonlinearity in \({\mathbb R}^N\) with \(N\geq 2\). The results improve and complement previous works [\textit{H. Berestycki} and \textit{P.-L. Lions}, Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 82, 313--345 (1983; Zbl 0533.35029); \textit{H. Berestycki, T. Gallouët} and \textit{O. Kavian}, C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris, Sér. I 297, 307--310 (1983; Zbl 0544.35042)].
