The authors study the following reaction-diffusion equation (porous catalyst model) \[ u_t= \Delta u-\varphi^2 f(u,v), \quad L^{-1} v_t= \Delta v+ \beta \varphi^2 f(u,v),\quad (t>0,\;x\in\Omega), \] \[ \partial u/ \partial n= \sigma(1-u), \quad \partial v/ \partial n= \nu(1-v), \quad (t>0,\;x\in\partial \Omega), \] where \(\varphi\), \(L>0\), \(\beta>0\), \(\sigma\), \(\nu\) are parameters. The limit of the system for \(\varphi\to\infty\), \(\beta\varphi \sigma/(\varphi +\sigma) \to 0\), \(\nu\to 0\), \(\sigma^{-1} =O(1)\) is considered. This type of limit is reasonable for the real phenomena. This asymptotics of parameters has a meaning of singular perturbation in the system, and a thin boundary layer of \(u\) occurs. The time evolution of this layer is the main interest. The authors derive a certain interesting limit system, which characterizes this feature.
