    The illumination body \(K^\delta\) of a plane convex body \(K\) is defined as follows. Let \(\text{conv} A\) denote the convex hull of a set \(A\). Then \(K^\delta\) consists of all those \(x\in\mathbb{R}^2\) such that the area \(\text{vol}_2 (\text{conv} (\{x\} \cup K) \setminus K)\) is less than \(\delta\). The author shows that to a function \(h:(0,1] \to\mathbb{R}\) there exist positive constants \(c\), \(\delta_0\) and a plane convex body \(K\) such that the area of \(K^\delta\) satisfies for all \(0<\delta <\delta_0\) the inequality \[ c^{-1} \cdot h(\delta) \leq\text{vol}_2 (K^\delta) -\text{vol}_2 (K)\leq c\cdot h(\delta), \] provided \(h\) possesses certain properties.
