For a completely regular Hausdorff topological space \(X\), let \(C(X)\) denote the space of all real-valued continuous functions on \(X\). In this note the authors consider contractive projections and find necessary and sufficient conditions in order a subspace of \(C(X)\) be the range of a pointwise contractive projection in \(C(X)\).
