The time-frequency uncertainty of the Meyer wavelet, which is compactly supported in Fourier space and for which analytical expressions are known, is investigated. The uncertainty constant is finite and the blending function used for constructing the Fourier transform of the Meyer wavelet is optimized such that the uncertainty constant is minimized. This results in a second-order nonlinear non-autonomous differential equation. An approximate solution of this equation is constructed yielding a sequence of simpler differential equations which have closed-form solutions which converge uniformly to the solution of the original equation. Thus a Meyer wavelet with the least uncertainty constant is obtained.
