The map \(f:X\to X\) of a compact metric space is equicontinuous (also Lyapunov stable) if for \(\varepsilon>0\) there is a \(\delta>0\) such that \(d(f^i(x), f^i(y))<\delta\) whenever \(d(x,y)<\varepsilon\) for all \(x,y\in X\) and \(i\geq 1\). The authors examine the question of when a map of ``figure-eight space'' is equicontinuous. Letting \(8\) denote figure-eight space and \(F(f)\) denote the collection of fixed points of \(f\), the main result of this paper is that \(f\) is equicontinuous if, and only if, one of the following holds: (1) \(F(f^{4!})=\bigcap_{j=1}^\infty f^j(8)\), (2) \(\bigcap_{j=1}^\infty f^j(8)\) is a circle on which \(f\) is conjugate to a rational rotation.
