There are some ways to characterize a finite group by the quantitative set of its subgroup orders. In 1984 the reviewer and \textit{W.-Z. Wang} gave a new characterization of \(A_5\) by the set of element orders (that is, cyclic subgroup orders) of \(A_5\) [A new characterization of \(A_5\) and the finite groups in which every non-identity element has prime order, J. Southwest China Teach. Coll. 9, No. 1, 36-40 (1984)]. After this, it was proved that a lot of finite simple groups \(G\) can be characterized using only the set of element orders of \(G\) [see \textit{W.-J. Shi}, Chin. Sci. Bull. 42, No. 21, 1761-1764 (1997; Zbl 0906.20009) and \textit{V. D. Mazurov}, Algebra Logika 41, No. 2, 166-198 (2002)]. In this paper, the author characterizes each of the following simple groups by the sets of their solvable subgroup orders: \(A_1(q)\), \(Sz(q)\), \(^3D_4(q)\), \(G_2(q)\), \(^2G_2(G)\). For proving these results the author and \textit{N. Iiyori} generalized the prime graphs of finite groups [Hokkaido Math. J. 29, No. 2, 391-407 (2000; Zbl 0965.20008)]. There exist negative answers for Problem 1 and Problem 3 of this paper [see \textit{R. Brandl} and \textit{W.-J. Shi}, J. Algebra 143, No. 2, 388-400 (1991; Zbl 0745.20022)].
