The authors prove a rigidity theorem for cocycles of higher rank lattices taking values in an outer automorphism group of hyperbolic groups. Their strategy relies on a combination of the general theory developed by \textit{U. Bader} and \textit{A. Furman} [in: Proceedings of the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM 2014), Seoul, Korea, August 13--21, 2014. Vol. III: Invited lectures. Seoul: KM Kyung Moon Sa. 71--96 (2014; Zbl 1378.37004)] and the geometry of group actions on free factor and free splitting graphs.
