The paper under review presents many results which showcase how characteristic \(p\) methods in commutative algebra have been used to prove results in combinatorial commutative algebra. The authors start with giving bounds of the Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity for quotients of polynomial rings in characteristic \(p\) which are \(F\)-finite and \(F\)-pure in terms of both the dimension of the ring and the \(F\)-pure threshold. The authors move on to the relationship between ordinary powers of ideals and symbolic powers which is another topic in commutative algebra with a combinatorial nature; the article highlights a few theorems along with their slick proofs in characteristifc \(p\). The authors then discuss asymptotic growth of regularity and depth for various filtrations in terms of the Frobenius or Frobenius-like maps. The paper concludes with some results pertaining to quotients of polynomial rings which were inspired by Frobenius powers of ideals. As this is a survey paper, many proofs are omitted, but the proofs the authors have included give a nice flavor of how the two areas of commutative algebra interact.
